Behind the Bottle: My Work with Heaven's Gate Estate Winery

When I’m not behind the lens capturing families or building custom studio setups for Little Joys, you’ll find me immersed in the art and strategy behind one of Summerland’s most beloved wineries—Heaven’s Gate Estate Winery.


Since 2018, I’ve had the honour of managing Heaven’s Gate’s social media, label design, tasting notes, and all branded marketing materials, from the signage you see at events to the tasting room print collateral in your hands. It’s a role that blends storytelling, design, wine knowledge, and community connection—and I love every sip of it.


Nearly all of the photos featured on Heaven’s Gate’s social media have been taken by me, unless otherwise noted as stock imagery. Every image is selected and shared with care to represent the winery’s story and setting as authentically as possible.


📍 A Winery Rooted in Place


Heaven’s Gate is nestled above the sparkling waters of Okanagan Lake, with panoramic views and an unpretentious charm that draws in locals and visitors alike. It’s a winery that’s equal parts laid-back and elevated—a place where you’re as likely to find a live band playing on the patio as you are a couple quietly toasting a special occasion.


That balance of down-to-earth beauty is something I try to carry through every visual and written touchpoint we create.


🍷 My Role Behind the Scenes


As their marketing and creative partner, here’s what I currently manage:

  • Social Media Strategy & Content CreationFrom bear sightings in the vineyard to toasts under golden hour skies, I build engaging content that reflects both the personality and professionalism of the winery.

  • Label & Print DesignI design the wine labels, tasting room sheets, shelf talkers, and promotional materials—ensuring everything feels consistent, refined, and visually connected to the brand’s story.

  • Tasting Notes & CopywritingEvery tasting note is written with intention, balancing the technical structure of the wine with a tone that’s accessible and inviting. These notes help connect guests with the essence of each vintage.

  • Event PromotionFrom live music graphics to seasonal launches, I craft the materials that bring people through the doors—and help them remember what made their visit special.


💡 Why It Matters


Branding in the wine world isn’t just about looking polished—it’s about inviting your audience to feel something. At Heaven’s Gate, we want people to feel welcome, relaxed, and like they’ve just discovered a hidden gem. My job is to reflect that through every visual and every word.

It’s a joy to work with a winery that trusts creative storytelling, values consistency, and continues to grow as a true Okanagan destination.
