Getting ready for family photos shouldn’t feel overwhelming. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you show up feeling prepared, relaxed, and ready to create beautiful memories.
✅ 1. What to Wear
👕 Coordinate, Don’t Match
Choose 2–3 complementary tones instead of identical outfits.
Soft, natural colors like ivory, sage, denim, or rust photograph beautifully.
Avoid bright neon, busy prints, and logos—they can distract from your family’s connection.
🧥 Layers & Textures
Think cozy knits, flowy fabrics, linen, and denim.
Layers like cardigans or vests add interest and are easy to adjust if the weather changes.
👣 Footwear
Choose shoes that are neutral, clean, and comfortable.
Barefoot is also a great option for grassy or beachy locations!
Close toed shoes are best for mountain and trail areas, as we do have lots of cactus in our area.
✅ 2. What to Bring
🧺 Snacks (non-messy ones!)
🧻 Wipes for quick cleanup
👑 Hairbrush or comb
🧸 Comfort item for young kids
💧 Water (especially for summer sessions)
🎁 A small reward or surprise for kids after the session
✅ 3. On the Day
⏰ Arrive 10–15 Minutes Early This gives little ones time to adjust and lets us start relaxed.
🧘 Keep It Light Let go of perfection. Tickles, cuddles, and movement are encouraged—these create the best moments.
💛 Don’t Worry About the Kids If they need to warm up, be silly, or take a moment, that’s totally okay. I’ll guide the session gently and go with their energy.
