Celebrating Niko’s 3rd Birthday in Revelstoke

ree

This August long weekend, we packed up for a little adventure to celebrate Niko turning three. Revelstoke was the perfect mix of small-town charm, family fun, and breathtaking scenery — and as always, I had my camera in hand to document the memories we made along the way.

Exploring the Town

Our first stop was right in the heart of downtown Revelstoke. We wandered past the murals, paused to admire the local art, and soaked up the busy summer energy. The streets were alive with music, families, and that wonderful long weekend buzz.

We stopped outside Nico’s Pizza (how could we not, with a name like that?) — but the waitlist was long, so it was just a quick picture and on we went.

Saturday Night Live Music

One of the highlights was the outdoor live music on Saturday evening. The boys danced, people gathered under the string lights, and the whole town seemed to come together. I loved photographing the movement, the laughter, and that joyful sense of community.

Bikes, Skate Parks, and Big Energy

We brought the boys’ bikes, which turned out to be the best decision. They zipped through the skate park, tried new tricks, and wore themselves out in the best way possible.

Those in-between moments — helmets askew, feet flying, pure concentration on their faces — are the ones I know I’ll treasure when I look back.

Crossing the Ferry to Nakusp

We also took the ferry across Arrow Lakes, making our way to Halcyon Hot Springs. There’s something magical about a ferry ride — the mix of open water, mountains, and wind in your hair. The boys ran back and forth on deck, and I tried to catch both the stillness of the lake and the chaos of kids on an adventure.

The Enchanted Forest

On our way home, we made one last stop: The Enchanted Forest.

It’s been a family tradition for generations of travelers, tucked away between Revelstoke and Sicamous. Built in the 1960s by Doris and Ernest Needham, it started as a collection of whimsical fairy-tale figurines and grew into a beloved attraction filled with tiny houses, magical creatures, and over 350 hand-crafted characters hidden among the trees.

Walking through, it felt like stepping into a storybook. The boys darted from one discovery to the next — peeking into little cottages, pointing out animals, and running along winding forest trails. Niko’s eyes lit up at every turn, while Matteo explored with curiosity and imagination.

It was the perfect final chapter to our adventure — a little bit of history, a little bit of magic, and a lot of childhood wonder.

A Weekend to Remember

This trip wasn’t about a big itinerary or fancy plans — it was about slowing down, exploring together, and celebrating Niko in a way that felt like us. From bikes and ferries to music and fairy tales, it was the perfect birthday adventure.

Happy 3rd birthday, Niko — what a gift to see the world through your curious eyes.
